Heart pictures
When my nieces were little girls (about 6 and 7) I was playing outdoors with them when the older girl asked me to take their picture. Being a doting aunt I went to get my camera. After I took pictures of the two young girls giggling and swinging and making faces at the camera I asked her what she wanted me to do with the pictures--this was before digital so I wonder what she needed done with the prints. She asked me to save them so they would always remember how much fun they had that day. Then she smiled and went back to playing. I stood there with camera in hand realizing that I had been given a gift of wisdom. I learned on that autumn afternoon, with those two young ladies, the momentous treasure of simple joy. Many years have wandered along since that moment but the lesson has stayed with me.
