Sun, blue skies, and cold. Today is not a sandal day but most of the snow is gone and there are green sprouts showing. Yellow and purple crocus in the park!
Yes, I confess I forgot to post this picture on Wednesday but I did remember to take this picture on Wednesday. I was hoping to see some sun but that did not happen. I thought about this missing post when I crawled into bed and then thought, tomorrow. So this rambling post is being done on Thursday...and now on to that day's post.
Winter stopped to say....Goodbye? March is being capricious. Like a playful child needing a time-out for causing havoc it has gifted us with over 2" of snow and still coming down. Snowplows on the road and inches of white slush to be shoveled from the steps. Sigh.
Really need to see some color! Maybe I should buy some plastic flowers and scatter them. Usually takes a thunderstorm to bring out the green but no such creature in the forecast. I'm slowly gathering the branches that came down over the winter and piling them up on the curb. The gentlemen who mow my yard usually remove them for me but it will be a bit of time yet before mowing needs to occur.
Late winter continues mild. Spring begins on Friday but Mother Nature has been kind and allowed Winter to leave early this year. The garden club was in the park yesterday removing the winter cover on the flowers. Time to start checking for crocus and daffodils.
Colder today but temperatures more normal for this time of the year. Picture was early in the day before the sun gained strength. No precipitation. Yay!
Ahhhhhh. This is what it should be like on March 16. Prediction is for mid-70s and dry. No precipitation in sight. Farmers will be busy getting the equipment ready and checking the fields for dryness so they can plow. We rural people are anxious to begin preparing for the fall harvest.
This is the product of mid-60 degree temperatures. The only visible snow left is in some edges of road where plows had piled up large mountains. Ah, spring!
Today features a before and an after. Or an "am" and a "pm". Reached mid-60s today and as you can see on this "before" picture taken at 8:30 am there was some snow left in the yard. Now go to the "pm" picture taken at 4:00 pm.
Yes, you are correct. Much more bare ground showing. The snowstick down on the left-side corner is leaning as levels drop dramatically. Temperatures predicted to be in the 60s today and it is mostly sunny. Flood warnings going up on some of the rivers and the counties are putting up the weight limit signs on the local roads. Funny how it seems so much easier to breathe when the sun is out and you don't need to wear a winter coat.
Glorious! Temperatures in the mid-50s and no fog! The snow is disappearing rapidly and, at least for today, no major flooding in my area. I am almost ready to accept Spring as a reality. For now, I celebrate each warm day. Yes!
Yes. Fog has pulled back and the thaw continues. The debris from winter is becoming more apparent each day Lots of small branches and mud moved by snow blower attacks. The snow depth was as deep as 19" and is currently 4". Going in the right direction.
I know. This doesn't look any different than yesterday. Was cold with no new snow so landscape was not affected. Tomorrow may be warm enough to start a thaw. Sigh. 13 degrees at 9 am.
Ok. One day closer to spring and one confused weather day. Snow, sleet, freezing drizzle, fog, rain, and then COLD. Holding on to faith that Spring is coming.
Almost lost the day. The picture is from early in the day when the sun was shining bright. Temperature warmed in concert with the sun and most of the icicles melted. But sun lost out to clouds now and there are three icicles outside my window.
