Last day of the month and the calm before the storm.   Snow predicted for this evening and tomorrow.   Six to twelve inches and strong winds.  DRATS!

January 30, 2015

Image
Colder (17 degrees) but dry and sunny.  Heavy snow in forecast for the weekend.   Sigh.

34 degrees and cloudy. Early forecast had been for rain and snow.  Roads are fine out here. No rain or snow and only a couple more days in January.

Early morning view.   Cool right now but predicted to be above freezing later.

After a bit of freezing drizzle last evening there is a slight glaze on steps and car.   But not anything close to blizzard in New England. I'm content.

Monday. January.  Snow in forecast but blizzard forecast is far to the east of me and spring is one day closer.

Winter again.  Not predicting a heavy snow but it is snowing and winds are blowing and temps are falling. 31 now and only a very light layer of fresh snow.

The sun is out and temperature is 34.  Not bad for January.

January 23, 2015

Image
Not bad.  Temperature s hovering around 32 and dry.  Winds are chilling the air to remind us that this is the north and it is still January.

January 22, 2015

Temperature at thawing mark and no fresh snow.  I'll take that.

January 21, 2015

Sigh. Winter returns.

January 20, 2015

January fog.  When the thaw lasts long enough you experience fog.  Colder air appearing in the forecast next week.  For now we stay warm for January.  33 degrees at 10 am.

January 19, 2015

Image
January continues to surprise with a prolonged thaw.

January 18, 2015

Image
Thaw continues.   At 9am it is 36 degrees and I am happy!   Odds are zero that spring is here.  Life in northern Midwest teaches us to celebrate the January thaw for it is usually brief.

January 17, 2015

Thaw continues.  Mid 40s and ice is quickly disappearing. Yes!

Thawing!  Yes, it is currently 34 degrees with sun.  My icicles are melting and the glacier on my front steps is slick.  When you live in the northern regions you truly appreciate the magic of a mid-winter thaw.

Warmer today and sunny.  Temperature in mid 30s.  Nice break in middle of January.   Yes.

January 14, 2015

Image
A bit of frosty fog. I was hoping for sun so you could really appreciate how beautiful this is.  Cold again but warmer air still coming. Currently 12 degrees at 9:45 am.

January 13, 2015

Image
Colder today with snowflakes. Missing the sun but forecast has a January thaw coming.

January 12, 2015

Image
Yes. Fresh snow.  Two new inches, colder air.  But sunshine and that does help. Below zero tonight.  Sigh.

January 11, 2015

Image
Can you see the warmth? 30 degrees at noon. Prediction is for fresh snow later and falling temps.  For now, I celebrate warmer.

January 10, 2015

Image
Warmer today.  Sunny and dry.  Arctic cold sliding off and away.  Currently 14 degrees.   Yes.

January 9, 2015

Image
End in sight?  Still cold at just above zero with strong wind but forecast is for warmer days coming.  Not much fresh snow but with gusts over 40mph there are drifts.

January 8, 2015

Image
Brrr.  Temperature right at zero but winds are gusting to 25 mph and blowing right at my house. Cold inside and really cold outside with wind chills of -22.  Snow in forecast.

January 7, 2015

Image
Brrrr.  Currently 3.9F.  So ready for this arctic cold front to depart.  At least by next year I should have some pictures of spring and summer to help.

January 6, 2015

Image
New snow overnight.  About 4 inches.  Cold this morning with temperatures playing hide and seek with zero.  So tired of winter but December was not as bad as last year.  Sigh.

January 5, 2015

Image
About 4 degrees.  Cold day with snow in forecast.   I may need to start taking picture earlier as the sun had been shining this morning.   Sigh.

January 4, 2015

Image
Winter hits us.  Roads are icy and wind is causing snow to drift.  Sigh.

January 3, 2015

Image
Rain. Ice. Snow. Welcome to winter. Sigh. Already feeling that trapped sensation of having mobility constricted by road conditions. For now roads are wet as temperatures are hovering right above freezing. Cold is coming.

January 2, 2015. 4: 00pm My plan is to document the changing view.  Started one day late in the new year.  There was sun yesterday.  Sigh.
